Brake rectifiers are used to convert an AC power supply to DC power to operate DC magnetic shoe brakes. The AC input is usually 440 volt or 220 volt AC single phase rectified to 230 volt DC or lower, to energize the DC brake operating coil to release the brake. When the power is turned off, the brake automatically releases.
