Reels are used in coil process lines and cold rolling mill applications to feed and rewind a coil of steel. A payoff reel or uncoiler supports and pays off the coil, which then feeds into the mill or process line. Most uncoilers are driven to ease the payoff process. Some have a braking device so that the coil does not free wheel and cause too much slack in the line. Once the coil has been processed or rolled, it is then supported and recoiled on an expanding mandrel so that the coil is tight and the strip is not distorted. A recoiler and a tension reel are the same, but a tension reel denotes that the strip is under higher tension when recoiling. Contact Casey Equipment for a quote on used reels for sale.
