The electric arc furnaces have many components. In addition to the basic shell, electrode arms and the transformer, there are electrode torqueing devices that tighten the electrodes into the holders. Oxygen lances are used to inject oxygen into the molten metal. Alloy injection systems add special alloys into the steel recipe.
