Laying heads are used to form wire rod or bar in coil (BIC) from a rod block into a coil and lay the formed wire onto a controlled cooling conveyor, also known as a Stelmor conveyor. Today most laying heads are high speed and able to lay rod at speeds of 20,000 fpm (100 mps). A pinch roll is installed immediately prior to the laying head to control the laying head speed and withdraw the tail end of the wire after it exits the last rolling stand. Casey Equipment has laying heads for sale that were manufactured by Danieli, Morgan and Demag. Contact Casey Equipment for a quote on used laying heads for sale.
