The vacuum degasser in the metals industry is used to remove dissolved gases such as hydrogen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide from the molten metal. There are several different types of vacuum degassers. There are ladle vacuum degassers, tank vacuum degassers and RH vacuum degassers. In a ladle degasser, the ladle is put under the vacuum degasser hood which pulls out the dissolved gas using a vacuum. In a tank vacuum degasser, the ladle is placed into a vessel which is then covered by the vacuum degasser hood. The RH vacuum degasser uses a nozzle and vacuum chamber system, such that the nozzles are dipped into the molten steel which is then drawn into the vacuum degassing chamber and then returned to the ladle.
