Industrial clamshell buckets are used to handle material such as dirt, iron fines and steel scale. There are two line buckets which are carried by the main hook on an overhead crane and utilize a separate line to open and close the bucket. A single line industrial clamshell bucket is lowered onto the pile of aggregate or scale in the open position. Through mechanical action, a lever inside the bucket closes the clams into the aggregate or slag material. The clamshell lifts the load and transports it to its destination. When the clamshell is lowered and contacts the pile, the lever drops, which force the clams to open wide again and the material is released. Some clamshell buckets are motorized and require a remote operated switch. Contact Casey Equipment for a quote on used industrial clamshell buckets.
