STATIC VAR SYSTEM   QTY 0

A static var system (var is defined as volt ampere reactive) also referred to as a static var compensator, or SVC, is a set of electrical devices for providing fast-acting reactive power on high-voltage electricity transmission networks. SVCs regulate voltage, power factor, and harmonics and stabilize the system and have no significant moving parts (other than internal switchgear). SVCs are typically comprised of one or more banks of fixed or switched shunt capacitors or reactors, of which at least one bank is switched by thyristors. The main advantage of SVCs over simple mechanically-switched compensation schemes is their near-instantaneous response to changes in the system voltage.
